THE
STORY: This was a tough one. We were planning
a big party for months, and then we weren't. Because
after September 11, how do you invite people to
come out to party?
We pressed on, determined to do a benefit. At the
time, there were flags everywhere, the invasion
of Afghanistan had begun, and "United We Stand"
appeared on doors and windows everywhere.
Michael VonHulsebus (art direction) and Roger Poirier
(copy) created this invite. Michael pulled out a
visual of Rosie the Riveter. Roger suggested a martini
glass. Andrea Stern suggested a tattoo. Michael
performed Photoshop magic, and there you have it.
It seems to have worked. We raised $16,000 for the
Twin Towers Orphan Fund that night. Not bad for
a bunch of art directors and copywriters.
